It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Sheila at bookjourney
Come join the fun!

Geez, the only book I finished last week is The Birthday Ball by Lois Lowry.  My review on it is here.

I am currently reading:

Unfortunately, this book has not "hooked" me yet and I'm halfway through.  The big bummer for me is that the setting is a section of Maui that I did not visit.  After an incredible vacation to the west side of the island last summer with my husband (Thank You Jesus!), I was ready to read this book and be transported back there --for free this time!  So I've had to adjust to the fact that this book's setting is southern Maui.

I am reading this for the 3rd time.  Last time I skimmed and scanned up until the arena.  This time I'm reading every detail... and analyzing them too!  (For example, why does Peeta's -along with the other boys in the arena- facial hair stop growing in the arena?  Is this a detail that will resurface in Book #3?)  All in preparation of the release of Mockingjay tomorrow!  I pre-ordered from amazon.com with 2 day shipping.  When will it arrive???  How are you getting your copy of Mockingjay?

  1. As I travel backwards through the meme I am sensing I am the only one not planning to read Mockingjay. Enjoy! Happy reading. My Monday: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/08/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-9.html

  3. I read a Suzanne COllins book several years ago and just could not finish it and haven't ever picked up another. Maybe I'll peruse another next time I'm at the library. For some reason, I've been seeing a lot about Christmas books! 'Tis (almost, anyway) the season, I guess. I saw a Debbie McComber one being early-previewed, as well as lists of some others. So I pre-ordered one that looks like my daughters as well as I will like! It's Mary's Son by Darryl Nyznyk. Has young people in it as well as mysterious little man named Nicholas and it sounds like it really gives us a great Christmas story with heart and spirit. So that will be fun and it's listed as being for both YA and adults. Then I'm picking up the new Karin Slaughter book (name completely escapes me) at the library today. Just got an email that my copy is in.

BTW, is this the first time you've read "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn?" Loved it in 9th grade!

  6. I ordered Mockingjay from Amazon as well and it did not arrive yesterday but checking the status says it will be here today. It had better be :D

I have a link set up for Mockingjay related posts if you would like to link to it when you are done with the book. I am going to read all the reviews after I am done with my book and review. :D

  7. Liz,
Thanks for recommending Mary's Son. I'm always looking for a good Christmas read. And it will be here before we know it!

Yes, it's my first time with A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I haven't even started it yet, but I must start soon as my book club discusses it in September!

Do you have a blog? I was unable to find it.
